Position Summary

 

We are actively seeking experienced Controllers to join our network of accounting and finance professionals for current and upcoming opportunities with our clients. The ideal candidate is a strategic accounting professional with extensive experience overseeing financial operations, financial reporting, budgeting, internal controls, and accounting team leadership. Successful candidates possess strong technical accounting knowledge, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to partner with executive leadership to support organizational growth and financial success.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee all accounting operations, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Fixed Assets, and Financial Reporting.

  • Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.

  • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.

  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning activities.

  • Analyze financial results and provide strategic recommendations to executive leadership.

  • Oversee balance sheet reconciliations and ensure the accuracy of the general ledger.

  • Coordinate internal and external audits and serve as the primary accounting contact for auditors.

  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local financial regulations and reporting requirements.

  • Monitor company financial performance and identify opportunities to improve profitability and operational efficiency.

  • Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

  • Partner with executive leadership on strategic initiatives, financial planning, and business growth.

  • Manage ERP systems and support system implementations, upgrades, and process improvements.

  • Support mergers, acquisitions, and other corporate finance initiatives as needed.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience, including 3 years in a leadership or Controller-level role.

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and corporate accounting.

  • Experience managing the full accounting cycle and financial close process.

  • Proven leadership experience managing accounting teams.

  • Experience preparing and presenting financial statements to executive leadership.

  • Strong understanding of budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial analysis.

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, and financial modeling.

  • Experience with ERP systems such as Oracle, SAP, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, Sage, or similar.

  • Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and leadership skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA license strongly preferred.

  • Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration (MBA) preferred.

  • Public accounting experience is a plus.

  • Experience with SOX compliance, internal controls, and risk management.

  • Experience leading ERP implementations or accounting system conversions.

  • Industry experience in manufacturing, healthcare, construction, real estate, distribution, nonprofit, financial services, or professional services is preferred.
